Katahdin: Wigwam’s Tales of the Abnaki Tribe
by Molly Spotted Elk
Paperback
Molly Spotted Elk was the stage name of Mary Alice Nelson who was born in 1903 on Indian Island. As a child, she loved the stories told her by her elders. She started as a child collecting them in journals. She always wanted to write them up in a book and even started this while dancing and acting in France, but WWII interfered with that. These stories arenï¾’t just for children. Everyone will enjoy them. At the end of the book, there is a section that covers some pronunciation and forms of the Penobscot language and a dictionary.
